This was crawling on my carpet and I thought it was an earwig until I got a closer look. No idea what this is never seen anything like it before. Size of a pincher bug with an ant shaped head. Vancouver Washington

This is a rove beetle (family Staphylinidae). This is a huge family comprising thousands of species, the vast majority of which are general predators on other small arthropods.
Is this also called a devils couch horse?
