Hello garden lovers I have an enquiry about a spider here.
So I am in Dolores Uruguay and found quite a few of these spiders in my grandfathers garden.
Who are these fellows and are they poisonous?
Best,
Alessandro

These are mygalomorph spiders, commonly called tarantulas. Like the the vast majority of spiders, they have venom glands and thus may be termed venomous, but they are not dangerous to humans. See http://www.iibce.edu.uy/tarantulas/ingles/ for more detailed information.
Flapdoodle thank very much I can sleep safer and happier now, I think there is a whole colony in my garden, if they eat insects like mosquitos they actually could be very helpful. Thank you
