need help identifing this insect

Found hundreds of these little insects in my flower bed. I have river rock and dirt in my flower bed. Some of the insects had wings and some did not.

This little bug appears to be in the superfamily Lygaeoidea, but so far, I have been unable to pin it down. It does not appear to be any of the true pest species in that group; unless you actually catch any of these in the act of feeding on your plants, they likely can be considered as just a nuisance to have around. I will return to this thread if I can locate any additional information.
