Last spring I bought a small Coleus, have kept it indoors, and it's now 5 ft. tall. I am moving to an apartment and now it is just too big to manage. Can I prune it back to about 3' and, if so, how do I do that without killing it? Thanks.
Can I prune a 5\' coleus by 1/2?
If it were me, I'd look at it more of starting a few more Coleus from cuttings. Take a look at this link: https://garden.org/ideas/view/Onewish1/92/How-To-Grow-Coleus-from-Cuttings/
So, you could easily cut it down in size and it should recover but start a few cutting grown plants just to be on the safe side. They are relatively easy to grow from cuttings. If you don't have rooting hormone, you could use cinnamon.

Thanks, Growin!
I did take a few cuttings and have started them in a separate pot until I was sure it was ok to prune "Big Momma" back by that much without causing irreparable damage. And thanks for the link - I'm sure it will come in handy. Flyovergirl
