I have over 100 asian lilies (tiger, oriental, orienpet, asiatic, trumpet) in my gardens and without treatment the dreaded lily beetles demolish them. I have used Imidacloprid soil drenches very successfully in the last two years but recently read that this chemical might be harmful to pollinators that feed on the lilies' nectar and pollen. This has me very alarmed but the only alternatives I have found require very frequent applications (neem based products or spinosad) and by many reviews aren't nearly as reliable. I cannot afford to lose all my lilies and am hoping someone can help me out. having so many lilies is hard work thanks to these evil beetle and their nasty little babies.
need help protecting my lilies and their pollinators at the same time
Have you looked into neem oil? It's safe for pollinators as long as it isn't sprayed directly on them. I'm not sure if it would help with the beetles you're having trouble with, but it would be worth looking in to.
