Found a bunch of these guys munching on this plant. I'm in the Caribbean on the island of Bonaire. First thought was sphynx...but no tail spike. Figure it for some sort of moth but not sure. Any ideas? Also any idea what the plant is? Got lots of them & they grow wild around the island.
CLOSED: What is this caterpillar?
The plant appears to be Crotalaria retusa - it goes by many common names and is considered a noxious weed - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotalaria_retusa
My best guess on the caterpillars is that they might be arctiids in the genus Utetheisa - see http://www.discoverlife.org/IM/I_MPG/0248/320/Utetheisa_ornatrix,_larva,I_MPG24806.jpg for an example.
