spraying a young Plum tree

Berkeley, CA(Zone 9a)

My 2 or 3 year old plum tree is now in bloom. Last month I did spray with a dormant spray. Now, when & with what should I spray after blossom drop?
thanks

I have two plum trees and never have sprayed them. The trees are healthy and the fruit is blemish free. This is not the case with peaches though. Do plums have specific problems in your area? Sorry I have no helpful advice.

What type of plums do you have? European or Japanese? Are they blooming now? Depending the type of plum tree you are growing, the management can vary. I have about 9 plums in my yard and none have been sprayed nor have disease.

It is a Santa Rosa plum

Ok so its a Prunus salicina type and as such an early bloomer. Santa Rosa is not used commercially because of its susceptibility to leaf scald among other things. One of the main problems with early blooms can be bacterial canker. Make sure you keep the soil free of fallen leaves, remove dead and diseased limbs- spraying your pruning cuts in between cuts in the event of disease, maintain an open center form, and keep the tree properly irrigated and fed. Periodically inspect the leaves during the growing season to identify aphid or insect issues- scale, mites, to name a few
