This is my first year growing plants indoors. I started growing Petunias, and I now have seedlings that are growing pretty quickly. As you can see in the picture, they are not all the same height. How can I tell when they get their first set of true leaves, and when should I use fertilizer and how often? Also, is there a certain type of fertilizer you recommend?
Thank you
When Should I Feed Baby Petunias?
In general, once seedlings get their true leaves, they have about used up the food in the seed, and that's when I'd start fertilizing, at 1/4 the amount recommended on the label (of whatever fertilizer you choose)... I don't fertilize every time, either, which is more by chance then by design. The exception to this is growing tomato seedlings, which seem to do better when I follow Carolyn Male's recommendation to avoid fertilizing until planted out.
