What is my correct zone ?

Okc, Ok. USA, CO(Zone 4b)

I'm in the SW corner of Colorado. Zip code 81122 says I am zone 5. BUT, I am at 8000 ft. Quite a bit higher than neighbors with the same zip code. Would I still be a 5?, 5a? Or maybe a 4?

Either you are hallucinating, or your location listed by your name (Houston, TX) is incorrect.

Give us a nearby community/town, and we can offer assistance in rating your zone. Googling brings up Bayfield, CO but it looks like the zip code covers a lot of territory.

Take a look at this USDA zone map for Colorado. I'd suggest that you plan for no better than zone 4 conditions.

I have a similar situation in Georgia. The Atlanta area has moved from 7b to 8a. But we are in the northwest part of the city with the highest elevation. We are colder and get more snow than the rest of the city. Meanwhile, our cottage in north Georgia is on top of a mountain while most of the surrounding topography is foothills. They've moved that zone from 7a to 7b. The chart posted by VV should help even if you are hallucinating. If you can't figure out your zone you can enjoy the nice colors.

That's it! Rorschach gardening...

Sorry for the confusion and thank you for your help. I live in Houston part time and between Bayfield and Durango part time. VERY different gardening situations. I also, think zone 4 would be the safest bet. I am hoping that since my garden is on a full sun hill facing south, that with mulch, I could possibly get away with zone 5. I want to try a butterfly bush this coming spring, so wish me luck.

That's a stretch but if I were to zone push I'd pick Vitex agnus-castus over butterfly bush. Similar looking flowers, attractive to butterflies and hummers, but prettier leaves, spicy smelling seeds and a nicer form. I grow both in zone 7a. Not sure if one is more hardy than the other.
