Hi all you guys are always so helpful! Thank You! Your advice helped me make several decisions regarding plant care! Thank You! For this. So I have a picture from a friend that wants to know what it is. And after seeing the stunning beauty me too!

I think it is probably a Protea flower. There are many species. Maybe Protea laurifolia? Wow that is gorgeous! Looks tropical, wish I could have it.

Do you know what the center looked like? Protea laurifolia is darker. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/170647/

Protea neriifolia 'Pink Mink' is similar too. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/134794/

Protea neriifolia 'Big September' is similar but has white fur mixed with the black. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/171127/

It does look like 'Bishop Tutu'. Sure wish I lived in southern California!
