I've never seen a bug like this before. I walked into my kitchen and noticed something strange in the middle of my cabinet door.
At first I thought it was a mosquito but when I got closer I noticed it was different looking. It's body is red and maybe an inch long. Even when I got close to it the thing didn't really move, except kind of turn it's head a bit here and there.

This is a wasp in the family Ichneumonidae; they all are parasitic on other arthropods, mainly other insects, and are completely harmless to humans.
