Just seen this butterfly nectaring on cosmos and can not figure out what it is. Seen in central kansas today 1pm. Its wingspan is 1.5 to 2 inches. I like to keep track of what i see on my flowers and cant find this in my field guide gor kansas butterflies. Any help would be appreciated

It's a nymphalid in the genus Chlosyne, possibly a bordered patch, Chlosyne lacinia. This species has been reported from Kansas.
