What kind of spider is this?

Any idea what kind of spider this is? It was found in Northern California if that helps and I believe that is a picture of the underside of the spider.

The picture was taken by a family member who threw it away after taking that picture so unfortunately, I cannot take a picture of the top side of the spider. Is there any way to tell from the back side?
