Hi
I have a beautiful Garry Elliptica which I have had for about 6 years now and every year produces a few tassels not many, but this year every branch is full of them, but they are only very small, what I want to know will they grow to the full size, as if they do it will be amazing I was wondering because with there being so many of them will it stop them from growing any bigger, and since I have had it I have never cut it back, so when would be the best time to do it
Regards
Katy
Garrya Elliptica tassels
Not every clone of Garrya has long tassels. That is a good reason to plant a named clone with the potential to grow long catkins. They also are accustomed to abundant fall and winter rain, so be sure to water adequately if you are not having rain.
The Garrya Elliptica I have is a James Roof and the last few years it has had the tassels on they have been really long, thats why I was wondering with there being so many on maybe thats why they are only small
I don't think that's it. That cv. can carry a huge number and still have great length per tassel.
