Possible false widow sighting in Nottinghamshire, England?

For the last few mornings, I have opened my bedroom curtains, and found this hanging down from the guttering just outside. I had no intention of opening the window to get a closer look so this is as close as I could get by zooming in from the comfort of behind my window. I'm just wondering if it is a false widow, and if not, what else it may be? So far, it has made no effort to come into the window. I have watched it simply come down from under the guttering, (the thread is so fine it just looks like it's floating) kind of go round a bit, before going back up. The actual web seems to be under the gutter itself and from what I can tell, does look fairly neat, not a "mishmash" or "irregular" as I have seen false widow webs described as on various other sites.

Having zoomed in on the image on my phone, I can clearly make out a pale creamy cross shape on the back and the body appears to be brown.

This is a harmless orb weaver in the genus Araneus; likely A. diadematus (European garden spider/cross spider) - http://www.uksafari.com/cross.htm

Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I still don't fancy it coming my window though so it's staying firmly closed.
