Good evening,
Would anybody be able to help me indentify these two spiders I came across in my home this evening. Based in the UK. Abit worried as have been told a nest of false widows was found next door in garden shed.
Many thanks
Sidney
Please help ID these spiders
These are male spiders in the genus Steatoda, which includes the species known as 'false widow spiders.' Although some can deliver a very painful bite (as I have experienced), they are not nearly as dangerous as some popular press (e.g. the Daily Mail and the like) accounts might indicate - http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-24636116
Thank you very much. Do you know if or how we can try and stop so many getting in the house?
Thanks
Sidney
Short of hermetically sealing it, I'm afraid not...
