My rose of sharon is young and only producing a few buds as yet, but this year the buds fell off before fully opening. They opened enough to see the color of the petals but no further. It's been quite dry in July, Aug & Sept, but no disease or insects.

Why did my rose of sharon buds fall off?
It probably was the dry weather that did it. According to the info at the following link, drought stress can cause the buds to drop.

Sorry you lost the buds this year, but there is always next year. I think the saying goes, "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." ~ Audrey Hepburn. Plus, maybe a little water.☺
