lily bulbs

Sintaluta, Canada

how do you tell the difference between asiatic and oriental bulbs? My lilies are done blooming and I want to dig up and thin out my patch but I have them all mixed in one bed. How will I know which is which by looking at the bulb?

I suggest tagging them when blooming...dont know a visual difference offhand

The oriental lilies generally have larger blooms, with more spots on the flowers, and have an AMAZING fragrance! Asiatic lilies don't generally have a strong fragrance, or one at all.

True (except for the generalization about spots) but the question is how to distinguish Asiatic hybrid bulbs from Oriental hybrid bulbs. Marking the plants while leaves are still visible is the only way I can think of too... although I wouldn't doubt that a lily expert would be able to do it from the bulbs(?)

I know. This person wants the difference between the bulbs. Here's some information regarding the leaves. This may or may not help.
