I showed up to work and a coworker showed me this little nest or communal sac (Which they thought to be a napkin) and, as she was about to move it, the sac burst and out popped over a hundred little baby spiders. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this, as everyone at work is completely clueless.
Unidentified Spider Nest
This does not look like any spider construction that I am familiar with - did you happen to capture any image(s) of the critters that emerged from it?
The spiders were way to quick and small to get any pictures.
At first, the nest/webbing was flat. It was able to survive and not wear out during heavy rain fall. We thought they were just hiding under or in it to keep away from the rain.
Interesting - the material in the image next to the gloved hand simply does not look like spider silk to me...
