My wife and I found this beautiful spider hanging out eve of our garage, just wondering if anybody can help with identification to appease our curiosity.

This appears to be Larinioides sericatus, a harmless orb weaver found both in North America and Europe - http://www.freenatureimages.eu/animals/Aranaea,%20Spinnen,%20Spiders/Larinioides%20sericatus/index.html
