Identifying Kitchen Bug -> HELP PLEASE!

Cliffside Park, NJ

Hi there! I live in Northern New Jersey right outside New York City. A couple weeks ago I started seeing these bugs on my kitchen counter and in my sink. They move slowly and are about the size of a tick with 6 legs and what appears to be little pinchers / antennae (??)

I have NO idea where they are coming from. I have not brought anything unusual into my apartment, I never leave food out and clean my sink and counter daily. ANY help would be so so appreciated, I need to get rid of these things!

This is a weevil, a beetle in the family Curculionidae; it might be one of the so-called granary weevils (maize/rice/wheat weevils) in the genus Sitophilus. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat_weevil for an example. You probably should check any area where whole grains of any kind (including bird seed) are stored for signs of infestation,

Looks to be a grain weevil. If you've bought anything like flour, cake mix, birdfood, crackers, oatmeal, grits, etc they could be coming from an infected box. Put out bay leaves (not in the supply, but on the shelves and under canisters) to deter them. Squash the ones you see crawling around.
