I found this spider at work right beside the front door. It's the most high traffic area in the building and is about 12 inches from the actual opening. I have attached a few pictures I took from the outside of the window it made it's web in. Was just wondering if someone was able to identify it. I've never seen such a big and gnarly looking spider before.

This is Araneus diadematus, a very common and widespread species (it occurs in Europe as well as North America), known as the cross orb weaver or European garden spider - http://www.spiders.us/species/araneus-diadematus/
