Found this spider at home (among other 50 different kinds as in the UK there is an invasion of spiders). I don't like this one particularly as it looks dangerous to my ignorant eyes and we have 2 children. Thank you for your comments. Kindly, Nano
CLOSED: Is this spider dangerous?
This is one of the so-called 'false widow' spiders in the genus Steatoda - see http://www.uksafari.com/falsewidows5.htm and http://www.uksafari.com/falsewidows.htm
These are a lot of highly exaggerated and misleading articles on these spiders in the popular press (such as the Daily Mail) as well as on the Internet. None of these spiders are truly dangerous to humans, but some of them certainly can deliver a very painful bite (personal experience, among other things).
Thank you very much Flapdoodle. Great!
