I've been getting these things in my basement lately, and they just look like ticks to me. What do you guys think?. (according to the pictures). thanks.

No, it's a broad-nose/short-snouted weevil in the subfamily Entiminae. These weevils often enter buildings in search of shelter, but do no harm there...
