I know nothing about katydids. I just hear them every night. This one was quite fat and on the side of the house we rented in Eastern PA. Does it have a more specific nomenclature to it than just a katydid?
CLOSED: Katydid ID
This is a true katydid, Pterophylla camellifolia - http://songsofinsects.com/katydids/common-true-katydid
Most green grasshopper-like insects called katydids actually are false katydids in the subfamily Phaneropterinae - see http://www.austinbug.com/ortpics/mic-rho1.jpg for an example.
That's the info I was hoping to learn. Thanks as always Flapdoodle.
