CLOSED: Fat Green Beetle

I took these in the dark with a flash so I'm not sure they are good to ID. This was a dead beetle my neighbor's 4 year old is obsessing over. Any idea what it might be?

I am glad your neighbors kid isn't afraid of bugs - I always think it is sad when a child picks up their parents phobias. You might want to let him/her know that some insects have very short life spans - give them the bad news up front before they get attached.

This little guy was driving his parents nuts all day waiting for me to tell him what he'd found. I think we have a future entomologist in the neighborhood. lol
