My Orchid\'s drying out but the soil is still damp.

I haven't had it long. It's in Orchid Mix and has been watered with a nutrient additive, added to the water. The leaves are just turning yellow and brown on the outer edges, and the flowers are turning brown, becoming very brittle and crinkly. The soil is still damp, and it's placed on the dining room table, where it's warm with medium indirect light, and I mist it every other day. The buds that were on it have dried out and fallen off.
What am I doing wrong.?

I water mine about once a week, drain any excess that gather in the cache pot, and never mist them. I keep them in a southern exposure window (but I moved them outside for this summer). I have six big ones and two mini's that bloom each year without much care (my oldest two are probably six years old) and bought a couple more this past fall which brings the total to 8 full size. I have not changed the potting mix they came in either. I wonder if you are doting on them too much?

Thank you both. I checked the roots as recommended in the above link, and found all of them are black, empty and slimy... eww.! The medium is proper Orchid Mix, and it's fairly new, just 3 weeks , I've watered only once, and the water I used had a nutrient additive mixed with it, because the plant came from a DIY store, and an Orchid Website recommended that plants bought from these places are re-potted immediately and given a nutrient boost. The medium is still damp. The orchid is in a plastic pot because it retains water, but it has lots of drainage holes in the bottom and is see-through, so the light gets through. This was recommended by our local specialist garden centre, who we asked for advice.

I've removed all the roots, washed the medium off, soaked the base and repotted. I will give the misting a miss for a while, and try to figure out how to help the roots to re-grow.
