Sick Wisteria

Ashland, KY

Is my wisteria dying? New to gardening this year. Never had a baby wisteria. Leaves are turning yellow/orange and falling off. Some new green growth. Should I clip the leafless branches off, or will more leaves come? What is the best fertilizer? How often to fertilize? How often to water? Let dry between waterings or no? Replant in bigger pot yet? When should I put it in the ground? Any advice much appreciated.

Need to up pot! It needs room for roots. Yellowing means too much water not draining fast enough. At the end of summer toward Fall, the yellowing will indicate dormancy- unless you have an evergreen wisteria.

Thank you! Will do today.

I have a wisteria in the garden. I heard they do not like pampering and mine confirmed it. It hardly grew all spring/summer while I doted on it and shot up 5 feet while we were on holiday. As they are nitrogen fixing, they do not need fertilizing.

Ah... good to know. Thank you!
