Obviously short-horned grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, but making a positive specific i.d. from this image is iffy. One suspect would be Carolina locusts (Dissosteira carolina - see https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2877/9660798376_6a2a5b568c_z.jpg). However, there are several other species that can have an overall appearance quite similar to that of the Carolina locust. If they are Carolina locusts, their hind wings should look like this: http://collectionneurdinsectes.com/product/dissosteira-carolina/?lang=en

Would these photos be of help? I was unable to get a shot of them flying.

Thanks again..

Leaning more to Carolina locust because of shape of pronotum and the wings extending so far beyond the tip of the abdomen - http://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewSpecies.php?species=6421
