Hello. I work as a gardener and one of my clients has some very mature clumps of Veronicastrum. They are still flowering and leaves are already starting to turn black and look nasty. I remember this happening last year as well- foliage started to turn brown / black very early in the season. Is something wrong with the plant or is it a variety thing?

Veronicastrum leaves turning black
I love Veronicastrum, however, stem collapse and dying of leaves is quite common on stems post bloom. Prune out the unsightly growth and enjoy the fresh flowers
