I suddenly have been infested with these small black/brown insect. They fly and seem to be drawn out when the lights are turned on. They seem to be only in one room though.
Thank you for any help in identifying them. Thinking of calling pest busters but want to see if there are less expensive ways to get rid of them first.
Any idea what is this bug?
I cannot be certain, but these might be either cigarette or drugstore beetles. Both are in the family Anobiidae, and their larvae can infest an extremely wide variety of dry stored food products, including spices and dry pet food. You should check all your food storage areas for signs of infestation, and discard anything found to be so. See http://idl.entomology.cornell.edu/files/2013/11/Cigarette-and-Drugstore-Beetles-2014-ocf7nv.pdf for more detailed information, including control recommendations.
Thank you.
Basically threw out any possible source of food for them such as the potpourri and some detox foot pads.
Then sprayed the whole room with insecticide, closed the doors and windows for 3 hours and went back in later to find about 50 of the dead bugs.
Intend to repeat this every 2 days for the next week.
