I'm thinking this may be a metallic wood borer and not a emerald ash borer. Hoping someone can confirm this for me. Thank you.

This is a metallic wood-boring beetle (family Buprestidae); it might be in he genus Dicerca - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/95151470 for an example.
BTW, the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis) belongs to the family Buprestidae as well - http://emeraldashborer.info/
