Hi, bought a palm tree from a store 3 wks ago and already showing problems. I'm not sure what the actual cause of problem is. Placed the palm tree at a location away from draft, no direct sunlight and watered lightly when top inch soil gets dry. No pests observed. Some of the fronds are shriveling & browning (had to cut a couple of them off). Am attaching a couple of pics. In need of advice on how to fix this problem. Thanks!
Palm tree leaves browning and shriveling
It may have had some wind damage when you transported the tree from the garden center or it could be transplant shock. If you tie the leaves together in order to promote humidity that would help. Did you plant it with the addition of peat moss and a sprinkling of fertilizer? A slow deep watering is also helpful.
hi thanks for responding. I did not add any soil or fertilizer since I brought it home. I don't think its wind damage as its a houseplant. have a feeling its transplant shock but are there steps I can take to minimize or overcome the shock?
