This looks like it might be a true bug in the Genus Lopidea:

It is a bug in the family Miridae, but more likely to be this one...

Thank you, both! It does look like Metriorrhynchomiris dislocatus could be it. Seems it is a sap sucker so maybe not a welcome addition to the garden.

I do have a lot of geranium and lychnis in the area. Oh well. Let's see what happens.
