Forest Tree in Marshfield, MA

I rarely find new wild tree species around where I live, but I can't seem to place this one. The bark was so exotic... Some of the leaves had really pointed tips.

I know I should know this one; what am I not seeing here?

The bark is very cherry-like, so that is where I was heading first.

The leaves don't seem to go with any cherries (Prunus sp.) that I'm familiar with, so I'm backing away from that.

Then, I think of healthy invasives species like Buckthorn (Rhamnus/Frangula sp.). That may be your beast.

Look for spiny/spikey tips at the end of foliaged branches, and clusters of black fruit.

Definitely Frangula sp. Whether invasive Frangula alnus from Europe, or one of the local native species like Frangula caroliniana, not sure.

Definitely NOT the native. I have that one here - foliage is quite different.

It's an alder buckthorn. I went to another full grown tree I have had you guys ID before it it was a match. This species doesn't grow that large usually around here. It's very different as a big boy than the forest edge little pests that line every farm hedge.
