CLOSED: Pool Beetle

East Bridgewater, MA

My daughter saved this one from certain death. Any idea what it might be?

Thanx!

I do not recognize this one at all, but wanted to say I am glad to hear your daughter saves the lives of insects. I scooped a few struggling June beetles out of our pool the other day.

Unfortunately, there are many insect casualties in our pool... It's above ground though so at least I don't find dead squirrels in the filter like my old house. That was freakin' disgusting!

Minot, ND

It's a wood-boring beetle in the family Buprestidae. The adults are called metallic wood-boring beetles and the larvae are called flat-headed wood borers (actually, its their thorax and not their head that's flat)...

Awesome! Thanks Flapdoodle!
