Wild strawberry growing among the dianthus - I've tried weeding this several times and it's unbelievably tedious and I haven't been getting anywhere. Any suggestions?

I would dig up a large clump of the Dianthus. Filter through the dirt. Identify the Dianthus roots from the wild strawberry roots. Then, I would Round Up the wild strawberry unless you want to keep it.
