Hi...I'm in Southern California, I have found a few of these guys on my corn plants. I think they are a bit big to be a corn aphid. Any ideas? I originally posted in another forum by mistake and had feedback that this guy is a grasshopper. If so, are they harmful to my crops?

What insect is this?
This is a young nymph of a grasshopper; it does not appear to be that of a species likely to be a serious pest, so I wouldn't worry about damage unless you were to see large numbers of them on your plants.
