I live in the high desert of southern California and something has been biting my husband and I every other night while we're sleeping. I would love if someone could tell me what kind of spider this is and what it's nature is? What kind of bites does it leaves behind? He was in my sink and dark brown in color. He looks like he has a pincher at the end of his body. The end of his body was lighter than the rest of him.
This is a ground spider (family Gnaphosidae); it is extremely unlikely to be the cause of any 'mystery' bites...
