Usually pretty good with spider identification. The eye placement has me tweaking on this one. Found near O'Hare airport drowning in my sinkwater. I was rinsing equipment that had been used to bushwack in the south suburbs off trail. Several ticks had gone down the drain. I took this little guy out and put it on my arrowhead ivy plant I have hanging in my window. I want to put it back outside into an environment best suited to this spider, as I always do. Usually just outside my house. I cannot for the life of me ID this little bugger. I've considered sac spiders, wolf and other ground spiders, crab spiders (eye placement) and even perhaps a fishing spider but again the eye placement is off. I was in a relatively swampy area when hiking but alas, no. Here are the best photos I can muster. Spider found in Bensenville, IL, hiking occured in Palos Hills, IL. Thank you.
Stumped on Spider ID
Looks like a running crab spider (family Philodromidae). See http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/121118328 for an example...
I'm satisfied with that answer, actually. I appreciate your help. I don't know if you're like me but if you can't ID something it'll eat away at you, sometimes for months, until you do. Thanks again!
