We have this flying insect that we can't ID. It has inhabited our greenhouse window and sun-room. The paper behind the insect is 1/4" ruled so you can get an idea of the size. This photo is enlarged.

This looks to be a dark-winged fungus gnat (family Sciaridae). They appear to be commonly encountered in greenhouses or in buildings that have potted plants as their larvae develop in very damp/waterlogged soil having a high organic content. They feed primarily on fungal filaments in these soils, but but they also can cause serious damage to seedlings or very tender plants. See http://www.livingwithbugs.com/fungus_gnat.html
