Hi guys, my timber bamboo has a mild aphid problem and I'd rather not use chemicals. Last few days I've noticed swarms of this little bug all over the leaves.
Is this a good guy attracted to the aphid buffet, or here to form an alliance with the pests?
Hope you can help!

This is a frit fly (family Chloropidae); likely in the genus Chlorops - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/116598943 for an example. They likely have no relation with the aphids; habits of flies in this family vary considerably - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloropidae for more detailed information.
