Hello from Turkey
I have rent a new home for me and family (including a daughter 4.5 years old). This morning in bathroom, i found this (attached) spider and killed it. When i look closely i think it is a brown recluse and panicked!! Because i know (suppose) that there is no brown recluse in Turkey.. Can you help me if it is really a brown recluse?? Thanks
Although the brown recluse does not occur in Turkey, a related species, Loxosceles rufescens, does - see http://faluke.blogspot.com.es/2010/07/loxosceles-rufescens.html for images. As your spider is dead and therefore safe to handle, examine the eye pattern under magnification. If it has six eyes arranged in three groups of two eyes each, it could be a Loxosceles sp. If it has eight eyes in any arrangement, it would not be one of those.
