Let\'s Do Some Veggie Gardening

That pumpkin has been sitting there for MONTHS! It's rained a lot recently and I found these sprouts this morning. LOL

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

OH that was a whole pumpkin! I thought it was some kind of seed flat that got flooded, LOL!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

No, it was my fall pumpkin that never made it to the compost pile. It's been sitting on my back patio.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

So it is a whole pumpkin that got flooded lol. It will be interesting to see how it does. Today is the only day where there is no rain predicted. Soil is saturated.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

It was a whole pumpkin that started rotting. I think the neighborhood possum came by for a nibble and it was leaning severely. Next thing I know I have sprouts! Sometimes I amaze myself with how I'm able to grow things without even trying.

Planted my bag bed today! Also have some pumpkins growing hydroponically. By accident.

LOL stephanietx! I purposely grow some things hydroponically so accidental is great.
Countrygardens your lettuce fields are very nice. Are they growing hydroponics or just in containers?

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Stephanie what did you plant in your bag bed and how large is the bag?

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Kind of a cross. Used potting soil & water with a wand.

fresh layer of mulch added to my pathways, not the same color as i used last year but i dont care about that as much as i care about not bringing clay mud into the house from my feet.

Lisa, I have 2 green tomatillos, 3 jalapenos, and a mound of cantaloupe seeds. We'll see how many sprout. I might plant some flowers in the empty spots, too.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow, jmc everything looks great.

Stephanie, it doesn't sound like you'll have any empty spots. Lol

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

There's some space around the edge. LOL

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

It is exciting to see everyone's gardening and growing techniques. Zucchini, Early Girl and Roma Tomatoes are well on there way, I cannot wait to enjoy them!

i am following a guide for the corn that says to wait until they are about 5 or so inches tall before planting any beans that will climb up them, and then plant squash about one week after you planted the beans, so that empty space will fill in soon

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 8a)

I planted sweet potatoes in one of the largest gardening soil bags last year and they did pretty good. cocoajuno your plant looks great. jmc thanks for the info on the beans and corn. I did not know about planting the beans to grow around the corn. I ill plant it that way this year.

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

purple potatoes and russet potatoes have finally reached the top of their containers. filled them up the rest of the way with potting mix accordingly

and now i have bean plants! squash seed goes in the ground tomorrow

also going to try my luck at growing sweet potatoes in a huge plastic storage bin with holes in the bottom of it. since last year my attempt to grow them was an epic fail because my clay soil only produced a few pitiful sized sweet potatoes, lol.
