I have a dozen or so Allium Purple Sensations, and two Gladiators in their own "bulb" section. The first year they were beautiful, last year the flowering globes were a bit smaller, and the leaves began turning brown on the tips then progressing downward even before the blooms were fully open. I thought perhaps they needed more water, but watched watering very carefully this year and same thing is happening with even smaller flower heads--just a few inches wide. I am fertilizing with a cheapo Walmart bulb fertilizer, and my water is a whopping pH of 10. Next to them are daffodils and Darwin tulips, which are faithfully returning and doing great. Any suggestions? I fear in another year or two these bulbs will be history. Forgot to mention--on the smaller ones, the flower head stem is rubbery, and the flower heads aren't even opening; they do the "turn brown" thing and flop over dead. I'm in central WA, and they receive almost full sun.
