How long \'til they will bloom?

Duncan, SC

I actually got some bottlebrush buckeye (Aesculus Parviflora) seeds to germinate. Now I'm wondering how long they will need to grow before I can expect some of those beautiful flowers. Anyone know??

Yes, in fact, I do.

I have germinated and grown many Bottlebrush Buckeye. Depending on vigor, you will likely have flowers in 3 to 5 years from seed.

You list that you are in South Carolina, likely several zones warmer than here in central KY. I'd expect to see flowers in their third summer of growth.

Meanwhile, enjoy these cavorting at the Valley...

ViburnumValley,
Thanks so much for the info. I love the pics, especially the one with 1 very tall flower spike.
My plants will have the red flowers, I'm anxious, but willing to wait 3 summers.

If yours will have the red flowers - meaning you collected the seeds from a red flowering plant - then you do NOT have an Aesculus parviflora (Bottlebrush Buckeye), which only bloom white.

You must have Aesculus pavia (Red Buckeye) seedlings. No matter. They take just about as long to bloom from a seedling - about 3 growing seasons in the warmer south.

Now I get to post some additional images...
