What is this crab spider thing?

Washington, NJ

Hi all,

I've been trying to figure out what these are for months now and have had absolutely no luck.

Any ideas?

It might be in the genus Bassaniana - http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/141752360

Wow,

It does look a lot like bassaniana versicolor.
What I can't find is any real info on these.

Are they bad to have around small dogs, pets, kids etc?

Best I can tell, they should be harmless.

Thank you so much for responding with that, I've looked on and off since December and came up with nothing every time.

I am not an entomologist let alone the arachnologist that Flap is but please don't kill your spiders. Have you ever read about pets or kids being killed by spiders outside of Enews or the Enquirer? Up your security system and fire the exterminator. We are all dependent on the work of non minimum wage insects. If you see a spider that is worrisome the identification is academic but even if it is capable of a fatal bite it is easy enough to contain in a jar or cup and relocate.

All crab spiders are harmless to humans...
