Does anyone have experience with the Knockout Rose Tree? I've seen them online at brighterblooms.com and in the Big Box stores, but I have no experience with them.
I live in Chicago, which means I don't have much open space. There's one spot in the side yard that gets full sun where I'd like to try roses. Unfortunately, we have rabbits - a whole lot of them. Since I don't want to put up a fence, the Rose Tree is the only thing I think may work - be able to grow roses without the rabbits destroying them.
Does this make sense?
Thanks,
Vince
Knockout Rose Tree
I found the Knockout roses to be easier care than most. (This means that it took me 7 years to kill them instead of 3.) They were floriferous and didn't need much pruning. So, your goal is to get the flowers too high for the rabbits - that's a great idea!
I ended up getting a tree rose that grafted the "Wild Eve" reblooming rose. It seems to have worked just fine - the rose bush is above the rabbits reach and it's doing just fine. It's starting to bloom again for the second time this season.
Unfortunately, the bunnies are still in the neighborhood - with multiple litters this year.
