what is this bug?

This bug showed up in my apartment (top floor).
What is this?
Does it bite?
What might have attracted it here?

This is a wasp in the family Ichneumonidae; these all are parasitic on other arthropods (mainly other insects) and do not bite/sting humans - they lack venom, and their 'stinger' actually is an egg-laying tool called an ovipositor...
