My wife and I just bought a new home in the Sierra Nevada foothills outside Sacramento and we keep finding insects and spiders we have never seen before. She wants to have the house sprayed because we keep finding these in the house. Does anyone know what it is? The body is roughly the size of my pinky nail. The legs span 2"-3".
It looks like something in the family Tengellidae - see http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4002/4499161630_c1dd78bbd5.jpg for an example. They are not dangerous to humans.
Spiders are a better solution to get rid of pests. :)
